The renown of Łeba, the little town of four thousand inhabitants, extends far outside Poland. Values of its climate, beautiful sandy beach, splendid forests near by, attract everybody looking for a silence and a rest in nice and comfortable conditions.
Łeba as a holiday resort has been well-known for one hundred years. It is situated in the mouth of the river Łeba, between two lakes Gardno and Sarbsko. No more than three kilometers from the center of Łeba there is the Słowiński National Park and there unique on the European scale moving dunes. This 18,247 ha large area is called natural geography rarity. Between Łeba and Rowy on a distance of 32 kilometers of Middle Coast there are moving dunes acceding - from 30 to 42 meters high.
The dunes are marching constantly at the rate of 15 meters a year, and with a strong wind up to 5 m/s this occurence can be observed with one's own eyes. The surface of sand is covering then with the characteristic creases. It can be especially well seen when we take for a stroll at Mierzeja Łebska on dry and windy day. The original seaside flora, the rare species of fowl (one can meet a white eagle, a black stark here), badgers in the forests and muskrats in the lakes make the attractiveness of this angle unique. Some years ago the UNESCO linked the Słowiński National Park into the world system of the reserves of biosphere. In the neighbourhood of Łeba there are also lakes: Sarbsko, Dołgie Wielkie, Gardno. They are clean and quite rich of fish. The neighbouring woods provide an opportunity for long walks and bike excursion.
